Ron Knowles
Ron Knowles is the main figure behind the Veteran's Memorial project in
Milo. Ron knows what it's like to stand on foreign soil as a young man
in
uniform and he is thankful that he and other family members made it
home
from the war but he will never forget the service men and women who
died
as a sacrifice for freedom or those who were captured and may still be
alive but are prisoners of war. Ron is the primary force behind the
memorial project and has poured his heart and time into the
development
and construction of a war memorial in his community representing every
military branch. He has also been helped by many local citizens and
the
Legion Auxiliary. Ron has also had a lot of help from north central
Maine
area country musicians and singers who regularly perform at Ron's
Country
Music Jamboree held twice per month during the winter months. To date
Ron
and supporters have raised $20 of the $30,000 Needed. In addition Ron
has
125 stones that have been purchased thus far that will be installed
around
the walkway of the memorial. To purchase a veterans memorial stone or
for
more information on how your can contribute, Ron can be found at the
Milo
town hall the first Saturday evening on the month or the second Sunday
afternoon at his American Country Jamboree.
