The Northern Chapter of the Maine Country Music
Association new office holders recently at their monthly meeting. The new
Chairperson
elected by the members was Marie Dow. Marie has a MCMA member for several years and has been serving as
temporary Chairperson during the last few months assisting Ginger
Mae.
Elected Vice Chairman that evening
was Cornell McLellan who been serving as Treasurer for the past 2 years. Replacing Cornell the Treasurer’s position
is Tammy Creswell. Tammy is the mother our youngest member Alyica known for her Loretta Lynn cover
singing.
After serving as membership Chairman
for 2 years, Gary Knowles resigned his position sighting multiple commitments
he is now involved with. These are a new monthly Rock and Roll Oldies and a
new County Music Jam in Palmyra. Gary has performed valuable service to the organization and was recognized by the
for his service. Cornell as Vice Chairman will assume the membership responsibility in addition to assisting Marie with the operation northern
organization.
Slim
Andrews celebrated his 80th
birthday recently at the American Legion in Westbrook. The building was full of
country music performers, friends and family. Paul & Bev DeLisle, Cornell
& McLellan, Kathy and Buzzy Vanadistine along with Gary Knowles attended
representing the northern chapter with Gary and Cornell each performing a few
songs.
I am pleased to announce that the
MaineCountrymusic.com website was successful in assisting one of it’s advertised singing groups with landing an upcoming music gig.
That is one of the things that the site is meant to do.
